Sunday’s hike included once again exploring part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This time we head out to St. Mary’s Wilderness this was about two hours away from the city. The hike was 5-6 miles and included about three river crossings where the water went pass my knees! By the end of the hike there was this beautiful waterfall deep enough for cliff jumping. Great adventure with a long nap and amazing pizza afterwards ;)
A fish. Yes - this is exactly what was waiting for me inside the envelop. This “wonderful” delivery came to me this morning. I’m guessing this was a glitch in the system. My address was on the envelop but in a smaller sticker there was another address …to the man this belongs to. I guess some people really like fish haha! And this was a really nice poster of a fish on a canvas type of paper. Anyways - I will be shipping it to the original owner… unless Mr. Lanks (my dog) wants to keep it, but he tends not to send much about anything…
1T. Humpback Rocks & Apple Orchard
I have been living in VA for about a month now and it was time for me to go out and explore what this state has to offer. Today the weather was a beautiful 67F, SUNNY and clear skies. Just lovely. Very close to the city - only 1.5 hours away from Richmond. We drove part of the Blue Ridge Parkway …AMAZING.
1T. Humpback Rocks - VA
This is a pic of the Humpback Rocks - approach was only 1 mile from the parking lot - but WHAT A MILE. It’s uphill all the way! The view is rewarding as it opens up to this beautiful landscape - you can climb the rocks if you want :)
1T. Appalachian Trail AT Virginia.
For some reason and for the most part, every time I go on a random hike it happens to be part of the AT. This time was not exception - after the amazing view from the Humpback Rocks, we decided to go and explore the area…turns out that part of the VA Appalachian Trail was next. This AT trail offered about 3 miles of hiking before the parking lot split. Needless to say, the trail was beautiful! Must come back for the fall.
1T. Apple Orchard
After the hike my friend and I head out to this apple orchard - we really were starving for apples…and cider. Apple picking was so much fun! and the cider was delicious! I have never seen SO many apples. I even bought apple butter….breakfast tomorrow! :)
Some time, not too long ago, one of my best friends moved to CA to continue her studies. At the time, I just knew she was..well…somewhere in CA. Time passed and one of my other good friends broke the news that she was getting married!!! (SO HAPPY!!!!!) and..well.. her wedding was going to be somewhere in CA.
After this fantastic announcement, the bride to be let me know her wedding was going to occur in Monterey CA. Done! I was going to buy my ticket go to the wedding and visit my friend. Amazingly enough, I found out that my best friend IS living in Monterey! Such a GREAT surprise!
